Watchdog says ready for dialogue with Twitter, has no response

MOSCOW, Mar 12 (PRIME) -- The Russian communications service is ready for dialogue with Twitter, whose speed the service has recently slowed, but has not received any response from the microblogging social network, Yevgeny Zaitsev, head of the electronic communications control department at the watchdog, said on Friday.

“We’re ready for dialogue and know all those in charge at Twitter, and they know us…there are complaints about distribution of illegal content. They did not follow the legislative requirements of the Russian authorities, this is why we took the measures set out in the law. But our complaints are without response, nobody has approached us, our questions are still without answers,” Zaitsev said at a meeting at the Public Chamber.

He said that Twitter can oppose the authority’s arguments at the Russian court.

Public Chamber member Yekaterina Mizulina did not rule out that the country will have to mute Twitter fully in future.
